Kristin Rowell loves solving her clients’ legal problems. She enjoys delving into the facts of each case and weaving them together to create a compelling story for judges and juries. A Valuable Asset for Companies and Individuals

Kristin represents companies and individuals in all aspects of business disputes. She represents plaintiffs in some cases and defendants in others. Her clients come from a variety of industries, including real estate, banking, environmental, software, financial services, manufacturing, consulting, medical, and insurance, among others. Kristin has a developed a particular emphasis in problems dealing with real estate. She represents developers, bankers, property owners, and tenants in court and arbitration proceedings involving complex real estate disputes.

It is important to Kristin that her clients understand the litigation process and are involved in the strategy and decision-making process each step of the way. Kristin’s clients are individuals, limited liability companies, privately-held for-profit corporations, public corporations, nonprofit corporations, and charitable organizations. Some of Kristin’s clients are experienced litigants; others have never been in a courtroom before. Many have never sat through a deposition. Most of Kristin’s clients are individuals or business owners who reach out to her because they know that she is driven to provide them with efficient and effective legal representation.

Kristin’s favorite part of her job is being in the courtroom. She has successfully tried cases in both state and federal court. She also loves taking depositions and arguing motions in court. Kristin has decisively litigated shareholder disputes, employment disputes, real estate disputes, securities fraud cases, disputes over trust agreements, partnership disputes, banking disputes, environmental cases, and eviction matters. Kristin is heavily involved in and responsible for all aspects of her cases, from initial client contact through the discovery process, motion practice, oral argument, mediation, trial or arbitration, and appeal.

Kristin regularly appears on behalf of her clients in state and federal courts in Minnesota and North Dakota. Kristin is currently litigating a number of cases in the oil patch or “Bakken” area of North Dakota. In addition to Minnesota and North Dakota, Kristin has recently represented clients in Tennessee, Georgia, New York, Wisconsin, and Florida. The combination of Kristin’s Northern Minnesota upbringing and time spent on the East Coast has given her an ability to connect with clients who have a variety of interests and backgrounds.

  • Successfully resolved complex software systems dispute involving claims exceeding $10,000,000
  • Prevailed in tribal district court and tribal appellate court on complex jurisdictional issues involving tribal member entity providing transloading services in the Bakken Oil Field
  • Obtained complete dismissal of defamation, libel and slander claims involving shareholder dispute in Dakota County District Court
  • Successfully resolved shareholder dispute involving breach of fiduciary duty, breach of loyalty and claims arising under Minn. Stat. § 302A.751, as well as claims arising under the Minnesota Sales Representative Act, Minn. Stat. § 325E.37
  • Represented property owner in MERLA environmental contamination dispute involving industrial property located in Brainerd, Minnesota
  • Overcame summary judgment motion involving non-compete agreement and prevailed on numerous discovery and other motions brought throughout the course of the case
  • Successfully defended against a $6,000,000+ claim that resulted in a settlement where other side agreed to dismiss all of their claims and Kristin's client paid $0
  • Effectively represented and successfully resolved claims for charitable organization in trust dispute over decedent’s beneficiary designations
  • Resolved complex patent infringement and trademark infringement case involving competitors in retaining wall block system industry
  • Successfully settled environmental indemnity claims for sellers of automobile dealership located along Hwys 100 and 394
  • Won motion to dismiss for lack of personal jurisdiction for North Carolina resident who was sued by local sponsor of professional fishing tournaments, prevailed on initial motion to achieve full dismissal of lawsuit
  • Obtained complete summary judgment dismissal involving slander of title claim exceeding $1,000,000 on a luxury condominium property in downtown Minneapolis
  • Prevailed before trial court and Court of Appeals, and won a judgment in favor of Bridgeplace Associates for all of its attorney’s fees
  • Successfully resolved case involving sale of a corporate event planning company involving claims for fraud and misrepresentation
  • Successfully settled breach of contract and fraud case involving claims under the California Unfair Practices Act and California Unfair Competition law between distributor and supplier in luxury beauty care industry
  • Successfully settled breach of contract dispute for cattle broker in dispute over feeding contract
  • Successfully settled case for personal representative of revocable trust against claims that plaintiff was entitled to more than $1,000,000 of the trust assets
